Gun milan is the most widely used method in North India for matching kundlis before marriage. Points out of 36 are awarded across eight koots, based on the position of the Moon (nakshatra and rashi) in the two charts.
The eight koots and their maximum points: Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7) and Nadi (8). Nadi carries the most points because it is linked with health and progeny.
As a rough guide, below 18 is considered weak, 18 to 24 average, 25 to 32 good and 33 or above excellent. Do not rely on the score alone: Mangal dosha, dasha periods and the overall planetary picture are examined too.
In the Achman app you can enter both birth details and see the 36-point gun milan for free. Before a final decision, it is wise to have an experienced pandit read the full charts.
